Media Coverage: Yellow Advertiser reports on Go Bananas for Fairtrade

SOUTHEND and Leigh-on-Sea Fairtrade Network is joining forces with other networks across the UK to encourage everyone to eat a Fairtrade banana between noon on Friday and Saturday. More than 90,000 people have already signed up and it is hoped a world record will be broken to mark the end of Fairtrade Fortnight. For more information go to www.fairtradeleigh.org.uk Thefacts: - More than 4,500 products carry the Fairtrade mark, which acts as a guarantee that disadvantaged producers in 59 developing countries are getting a better deal. - Some banana plantation workers earn less than £1 a day. - One in four bananas eaten in the UK is Fairtrade.
